This review is giving me second thoughts about getting the game. If they make a sequel they need to top it ULTIMATELY.
1 Like Terrible review, as usual from Carolyn. I've almost beat the game and I strongly disagree with most of the things she brings up. 1) Subtitles? She pointed out a small mistake (maybe there are more, but is it really a big deal?) 2) Story: it's pretty basic, but that's exactly what I expect from beat-em ups. 3) Graphics: she's right. They're far from great, but they're not horrible either. 4) The most important thing is the gameplay, which I have enjoyed and the review doesn't show how much fun it is. Then again Carolyn tends to hate everything non blockbuster-ish, so it makes sense. Even the fact that you have many options to customise gets criticised. I mean, the hell?
Spot -on review! Such a poor, shallow bore of a game!! All the rich characters, the creativity to play with and this is all Silicon Knights could come up with!!
Ive watched this hack give 3 reviews b4 this, nothing above 6. I'll still try it out. The day I let a nose bleedin GS reviewer stop me from tryin a game based on their score is the day i quit gaming
And what did we expect from the developers of "Too Human"? I had high hope for this game.....
why gambit why!!!!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?? this looks wretched....arg. a great concept for a game of course. but wow... sacfrilege83 took the words out of my mouth. looks like a great game for my ps2. this is a title i hope to see revisted by a good company developer someday. but...wow. what a letdown.
I'm already slapping my forehead when I saw the graphics and they said it's nearly finish. Anyway I didn't expect much from this. :P
smh.. i was looking forward to a x-men game too.. guess ima have to wait a bit longer 4 a GOOD game.
@WindsweptSpy Just because they added more action/shooting it doesn't mean they took out the RPG elements! This simply means that u shot more in Mass Effect 2 than in 1 but in the rest did the same things!
@WindsweptSpy How the hell Mass Effect 2 is not an RPG when u can choose a class , customize your skills , make decisions... It also has more than 1 ending with different outcomes for the future games... You can play the way u want.... decisions have impact....and even if it's not that visible the decisions have an impact on the story... You have equipment to choose from and upgrades... You have squad mates and u can choose wich one to take on a mission and the decisions u make also have an impact on them... And many more things... How the hell Mass Effect 2 is not a SCI-FI Third person RPG?...
Im Glad i didnt buy this game, they could have done so much more with it, like Arkham City now that is how to do a super hero game, this just looks awfull, i hope one day some dev's will make a good game about this and Transformers
@Darnasian That's exactly what I was saying. Mass Effect 1 was amazing. Mass Effect 2 was NOT an "RPG" 3rd person shooter. It took all of the RPG elements out, making it just a 3rd person shooter where you make choices.
Saddens me that this got such bad reviews. But you have to love the irony that they showed an ad for Arkham City before the trailer.
@WindsweptSpy Maybe to you! Mass Effect is one of the best franchises and if u can't enjoy it than stop playing it... So what if it happened multiple times in the game to end up fighting when u didn't wanted...it's the game Mass Effect franchise is basically a RPG third person shooter
Ouch! That review stung a little bit lol! I thought this was going to be a sflop from the get, but not nearly this bad whooo that stings!
I hope this game doesn't put off other developers from taking the Marvel name through into another game, because I would like to see more and better Marvel games. I won't be buying this however, maybe I'll hold off until the next Ultimate Alliance.
@Darnasian say what you will... it happened multiple times in the game... secondly, mass effect 2 HARDLY stacked up to the original... "Hey guys, let's almost completely strip the game of it's RPG elements and make it feel like you hardly progress your character." ME2 basically felt like a 3rd person shooter to me.
I had a feeling this game would suck and now I know it does. What a shame. I want X-men legends 3 or Marvel ultimate alliance 3 not crap games like this.
@Truelori actually you are wrong, Eternal Darkness was pretty great. I personally liked Too Human but not many people did.
@Dragon240sx hahaha "Turd in a Box" sounds like it would be a better game than this, just by the title alone! Lol Nioce. But yes, woulda made a decent game for K-A except for the DEATH of their professor!!
Ya this game looks bad. I hate that all these game developers ruining great licenses by putting a turd in a box and slapping a logo on it, shame on them. On a side note this game might be good for younger kids because they can button mash there way to victory.
@Shadow_Fire41 Was thinkin' the same exact thing! Like, create a mutant (M/F, minor toon custom), maybe a base power (THEN adapt to others possibly), a talent tree and LOOT!! Who doesn't LOVE LOOTING?! This game (amongst most others around this era sadly) could definitely use some gamers w/ imagination tune-ups. Reach out developers and writers, our ideas are available (so stop sucking)!
@pedram007 Your opinion about somebodies voice is not needed nor wanted (your avatar says it all, eww). This is about the game (which is horrible, so I'm loving this GS Review... dead on btw Caro)! Glad I merely gave the demo a glimpse before knowing the game was a waste of time. Poor X-MEN
heres a thought, Dragon Age Esque RPG with more mutant powers, character creation, skill trees. basically just have Bioware or Bethesda do it.
WHAT A SHAME I WAS REALLY HOPING THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN GOOD BECAUSE IT WASN'T A MOVIE BASED GAME. FOR ONCE. MAYBE NEXT TIME
